NAHPERD encourages their members to be involved in this essential and exciting program. It gives the opportunity for schools to teach the benefits of physical activity and create awareness of healthy lifestyle choices. The American Heart Association provides curriculum ideas and helpful hints on how to make this event a success. The school community will have opportunities raise needed funds to address research, heart disease and stroke prevention and to goal set, receive prize winnings and physical education equipment for their schools. There are demonstration teams that will also help kick-off your big event with a free assembly. The following NAHPERD members were given $200.00 Jump Rope for Heart Scholarship this year:

Jeff Edwards: Peterson Elementary School, Clark County

Tracy Wolf: Shaw Middle School, Washoe County

The $200.00 scholarships are being used to buy incentives and equipment for the schools' jump rope units and Jump Rope for Heart Events.
